Cheesy Pizza Dip

The recipe is suitable for 4 servings.

Ingredients

100gsalami, coarsely chopped
handful fresh basil
100gmozzarella, diced
60gblack olives, pitted
30mlOlive oil
1onion, peeled and coarsely chopped
600gMcCain Crispersv
0.5pcs vanilla pod
2cloves garlic, finely chopped
40gTomato paste
extra fresh basil to serve
5mlHoney
2x 400 g cans whole peeled tomatoes

Preparation

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the onions and garlic until soft and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Add the celery and cook for another 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes with their sauce, the tomato paste, and the honey. Mash the whole tomatoes with a fork to a finer consistency.
  3. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  4. Pour the tomato sauce into a medium oven dish, add the salami and olives, and mix through.
  5. Fry Crispers for 3 minutes and then place them under a heat lamp.
  6. Sprinkle the mozzarella cubes over the sauce and press some into the sauce with the back of a spoon. Bake the dip for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dip is bubbling. Carefully remove from the oven.
  7. Finish with fresh basil leaves and serve warm with McCain Crispers.
