The cherry season is a well-known concept in the Netherlands. During the season, the cherry orchards of Prestige traditionally produce the very best cherries. Prestige yellow cherries taste sweet to mildly tart and are yellow with a red blush. A real eye-catcher on the plate. The yellow cherry is known by many nicknames: bicolour cherry, Rainier cherry, white or white-yellow cherry and “white belly”. They all refer to the same variety. The stem of the yellow cherry is long, green and has a kind of small cork at the end, with which it is attached to the tree. This little cork ensures that the cherry stays juicy. That is why growers deliberately leave the stems on when picking. Yellow cherries are only available for a short time in summer. They are delicious raw, but their slight tartness also makes them very suitable for pickling or making into compote. Available per 3.5-kilogram box. Also try the burgundy-red cherries in the Prestige range.
