Peach is actually a corruption of Persia, the original origin of this fruit. Wild peaches, also known as paraguoya, originally come from China. They are now cultivated in the Mediterranean region and New Zealand. Our wild peaches come from Spain. Wild peaches are flatter than the 'regular' variant and contain more flavor. The flesh is juicy, firm, lightly colored, and deliciously sweet. The latter is not because they contain more sugar, but because there is less acid in the wild peach. The wild peach is extremely suitable for use in desserts, for example by poaching them.
