This saffron from Iran consists of the dried stigmas of the autumn crocus, which are manually removed from the flowers. The autumn crocus grows and blooms in a very dry region in Iran. During the harvest period, the flowers are handpicked very early in the morning before they wilt. About 170,000 flowers are needed for 1 kilo of saffron.
