Original Cointreau Margarita

A classic cocktail with a bright flavor of Cointreau, fresh lime, and a salty rim.

The original Margarita was the result of an elegant compromise. Margarita Sames mixed her favorite spirits, Tequila and Cointreau, while entertaining her guests at her vacation home in Acapulco, Mexico in 1948. The Margarita was born.

Ingredients

3Cointreau l'Unique
2Fresh lemon juice
5White tequila
Salt
Ice
Lime slice

Preparation

  1. Make a salt rim on a Margarita glass.
  2. Combine the wet ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until well chilled.
  4. Pour into the Margarita glass.
  5. Garnish with a slice of lime.
