The FT-1 is a compact Dutch Oven that is truly an essential addition to your cast iron collection. You can easily prepare a small dish for yourself or make a delicious side dish or sauce for a whole group. With a capacity of 0.93 liters, this pan is perfect for cooking on a small stove, hobostove, or of course, using traditional methods. The pan weighs 2.9 kilograms, making it easy to transport during a road trip or camping weekend.
Place the Dutch Oven directly in the fire, hang it from a tripod over the fire, or use it in the oven. The FT-1 is also perfect for cooking on a Petromax fire table or Atago.
Various handy accessories are available for every Dutch Oven. One of the most important is a lid lifter, which allows you to remove the lid when the pan is hot. There are also special maintenance items, such as a scrub mat that makes cleaning the pan after use easy. Treat it afterwards with Petromax care wax and store it in your transport bag or in the cupboard, so it’s ready for your next cooking adventure.
A Petromax Dutch Oven also has some hidden features. The lid and pan are equipped with a convenient (mini) slot for thermometers and air/moisture release; turn the lid to open or close the slot. The lid also has legs, allowing it to be used as a grill pan when turned upside down. The pan is fitted with a handy handle for hanging it over a hot fire. Place the pan upside down and use it as a pizza oven.
About Cast Iron.
Cast iron is a type of cast steel that absorbs and retains heat well and is resistant to very high temperatures. As a result, cast iron can be used for many more purposes than steel or wrought iron. A closed cast iron pan, for example, can be used as an oven to bake bread, but is also perfectly suited as a stew pot.
Cast iron products have long been known as durable products because they are 100% recyclable and last a lifetime if cared for properly. Cast iron products are traditionally passed down from generation to generation. Cast iron requires proper maintenance, but this is less than you might think. After use, clean your cast iron product thoroughly with warm water and a dish brush. Dry your product well with a tea towel and store it neatly.
All cast iron products from Petromax are pre-seasoned several times. This creates a natural non-stick layer and in many cases prevents rust. If your product does rust, no problem—simply scrub it well with a wire brush, rinse it, and treat it again with Petromax care wax.
