Cacik

This Turkish yogurt-cucumber dip is super fresh and packed with flavor!Cacik is traditionally eaten with bread. The bread is used as a 'grabber'.

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Place the yogurt in a cheesecloth and hang it in a conical sieve with a bowl underneath.
  2. Let the yogurt 'hang' for about 24 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Peel the cucumber with a peeler and remove the seeds (you can still use them in smoothies).
  4. Grate the cucumber and also put it in a cheesecloth (about 2 hours).
  5. Chop the fresh mint and grate the garlic with a microplane.
  6. Mix the yogurt, cucumber, garlic, mint, and oregano with a spatula.
  7. Season with pepper and salt.
