(Winter) spice cookies
A cookie full of warm winter spices like cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. After baking, finish with an icing with a hint of kirsch. Delicious with coffee, but even better with mulled wine!Warm spices, they not only give flavor and aroma to your creations, but also provide depth. You could call them the heart of the kitchen. In the winter months, and especially in December, we seek warmth in our dishes and reach for our spice drawer, and they return in our recipes.
Ingredients
1.5gGrated nutmeg
270gFlour
1.5gBaking soda
1.5gFreshly ground black pepper
1gSpeculaas spices
120gSoft butter (room temperature)
3gCinnamon powder
1.5gClove powder
135gbrown sugar
60mlmolasses
A few drops of vanilla extract
1Egg
160gPowdered sugar
15mlMilk
A few drops of kirsch
Decoration mix purple-pink-white
Decoration mix red-green-white-gold
Preparation
- Cream the butter with the caster sugar in a mixer with a paddle attachment.
- Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Then, gradually add the flour mixture while mixing.
- Mix until the dough has risen nicely.
- Use an ice cream scoop to make small balls of dough.
- Bake at 175°C for about 15 minutes.
- Mix all ingredients into a smooth frosting.
- Tip: add a little extra sugar or milk if needed until the desired thickness is reached.
- Scoop or pipe the frosting onto the cooled cookies.
- Garnish as you wish and get creative.
