Purple Angel is rated by critics worldwide as a wine from another planet. It represents a new dimension of Carmenère, a grape variety that was rediscovered in Chile in 1994, after having been considered extinct two centuries earlier when phylloxera devastated Bordeaux. Today, Carmenère is synonymous with Chilean wine, and Purple Angel is synonymous with the best Carmenère.
Elegant on the nose, with aromas of ripe red and black berries against a backdrop of sweet notes. Ageing in French oak barrels adds aromas of pure chocolate and coffee that complement the typical fruit aromas of this variety. Well-structured on the palate, with smooth and full tannins.
Excellent with red meat, lamb chops with rosemary, pork ribs and cannelloni.
