Il Fortificato is a fortified dessert wine from Valpolicella, made from Corvina Veronese, Corvinone Veronese and Rondinella. The grapes are hand-harvested at the end of September and carefully selected. They then undergo a traditional natural drying process of at least 140 days, resulting in a high sugar concentration. Before bottling, brandy with an average ageing of 10 years is added to the Recioto wine according to a historical Valpolicella method. This provides extra body, structure and a long shelf life. The wine has an intense ruby-red colour with violet nuances. On the nose, aromas of plums and cherries emerge. The taste is soft, full and velvety with a long finish.
