The Zeeuwse Creuse, also known as the round or hollow oyster, is a common oyster in Dutch waters and thrives particularly well in the Oosterschelde. Due to its relatively short reproduction cycle of two to three years, this oyster can be cultivated in larger quantities. The Zeeuwse Creuse is clearly distinct from the Zeeuwse Platte. This oyster is characterized by its deep cup and irregularly shaped exterior. The size of the Zeeuwse Creuse is indicated with Roman numerals, increasing from small to large: IV, III, II, and I. The 3-12 grading indicates the size selection within this batch and stands for consistent quality and texture.
