The Zeeuwse Creuse is an oyster commonly found in Dutch waters and develops particularly well in the Oosterschelde. This oyster is also known as the round or hollow oyster and is sometimes referred to as the Japanese or Portuguese oyster. Due to its relatively short reproduction cycle of two to three years, this species can be cultivated in larger volumes, ensuring stable availability. Compared to the Zeeuwse Platte, the Zeeuwse Creuse has a deep cup and a more irregularly shaped shell. The size of this oyster is indicated with Roman numerals, from small to large: IV, III, II, and I. The grading 3-25 indicates the size selection and packaging unit of this batch and stands for consistent quality and structure.
