Make savory heart-shaped waffles with the round waffle iron, perfect as an original ‘bread service’.A surprising device for more than just sweet waffles. We spotted this round waffle iron (62021150) in the HANOS Shop and we especially like to use it for savory variations.Ingredients
10gFresh herbs
Pepper and salt
100gGruyère
400mlButtermilk
400gFlour
6units.eetlepelSunflower oil
20gBaking powder
2Eggs (M)
Ham
Finely chopped dried tomato
Finely chopped olives
Chorizo
Pan Coating
Crispy bacon
Preparation
- Mix flour, baking powder and herbs such as chives and parsley.
- Add pepper and salt, then mix in the Gruyère cheese, buttermilk, eggs and oil.
- Let the batter rest briefly.
- Spoon the batter into the waffle iron and bake golden brown waffles.
- Brush with melted herb butter before serving.
- Grease the waffle iron with PanCoating for best results.
- Bake at 160–170°C so the cheese melts nicely without burning.
- Add extra garnish (maximum 80 grams) to the basic batter, such as finely chopped olives, finely chopped dried tomato, ham, crispy bacon, or chorizo.
- Use an ice cream scoop for equal portions of batter.
- Dip the ice cream scoop in sunflower oil in between, it makes it easier to use.
- The waffles can also be frozen and reheated later in the oven or microwave. Brush again with herb butter afterwards.
